Memories...My Most Prized Possessions from Africa

My most important material possession during my latest trip, other than my passport, was my camera. I've never been much of a photographer, and have never bothered to bring a camera on many trips, but I felt that an African Safari at least merited some effort in this regard.

I was concerned that the activity itself would prevent me from being in the moment, from experiencing what I was seeing first hand, but it didn't. If anything, it made me hone in and pay more attention. I also enjoyed reviewing what I had captured at the end of the day. It made me realize just how much had happened in a relatively short period of time. I was soaking it all in...twice.

The pictures and video I brought back are a constant reminder of the larger context each of them represents...the sights, smells, sounds and emotions I experienced along the way. They are my treasures and the only mementos I chose to save from the experience.

Here are some favourites. Hopefully they will offer a taste of what it was like to be there.

Enjoy!
